HARDWORKING IMMIGRANTS: Adriatic Cafe and Mr. Donut

I would love to introduce residents to two of the best places to eat in Jersey Village, at least that is my opinion. I eat so often at Adriatic Cafe, that I have turned it into “My Home Away From Home”. The food is delicious and the place has incredible customer service.

If I could I would eat every meal there. Over time I found out that the owners are from the Albanian region. They have lived through a war and know how to work their hearts out. I love going there in the evenings. The staff have taught me how to slow down and savor food and life. So when I can I go there, drink some wine or coffee and slow down. I eat and take a lot of leftovers home.

One of the other places I love is Mr. Donut. I had no idea the kolaches and donuts were so wonderful. I found out that Danny was born in Cambodia and moved to France when he was a child. I am very rusty with my French. I keep saying that I am going to practice my very rusty French with him. He and his family live across the street from some of my family members. It sure is fun meeting all of the people who come there all of the time. I had no idea this was one of the neighborhood gathering places. I highly recommend going in there. Danny works 7 days a week. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a multi million by the time he is 40. He puts the rest of us to shame with his work ethic.
