Sam Harles – helpful information about arrival of Hurricane Laura

Some helpful information we shared to our email list yesterday evening and attached is a current evacuation map and storm track as of 4pm today:

Governor Abbott secured a FEMA Federal Disaster Declaration ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Laura and in preparation for Tropical Storm Marco,
At the order of Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Army and Air National Guards, and Texas State Guard have been activated and are prepositioning throughout the state of Texas ahead of Tropical Storms Marco and Laura.
Governor Abbott also issued a Disaster Declaration because of the threat of imminent disaster in Aransas, Bexar, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleberg, Liberty, Matagorda, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Refugio, San Patricio, Victoria, and Willacy counties.
Our area has lots of experience in dealing with heavy rainfall events caused by storms such as these and we want to make sure we don’t get complacent. Make sure you pay attention to your level of preparedness

  • Have a hurricane emergency kit prepared. This includes non-perishable foods, clean water, medicine, pet supplies, masks/ppe.
